I made a stack of Christmas tags this afternoon, using a large tag punch and some old Christmas cards.
Choose cards that are light colored so they are easy to read. Cards with a slick finish are shiny and pretty, but don’t work well with ink pens and some felt markers.
Cards may need trimming to fit in the punch in a way that makes them oriented properly when punched.
The tags could easily be dressed up with glitter, ink, ribbon, etc., to make them even better.
Another good way to recycle old Christmas cards. I’m glad I saved mine!

Darn, I wish I would have seen this sooner. I was saving cards for years. Just last week I gave them to the art person at Mom’s nursing home so she could use them with the residents. I could have saved a few. Oh well, there’s always this years, ha.
Lovely tags ♥ and a good idea!
Thanks for shearing ☺
Those are so cute!
Love them. They look so professional.
Where do you get a large punch such as the one you used? Are they in the commercial craft stores? Great idea! I hate to throw away the pretty cards – including very modern designs that I love.
Susan, I got that punch on amazon.com. Here’s a link.

I was going to use it to make invitations for our open house, but decided on another design. But I’m glad I got the punch. I’ll use it for a lot of things. This little project was fun. ~~Rhonda
I have used christmas cards for gift tags for years, but have never used a large punch. i have just always used scissors and my own imagination to create any shape! I will definitely be purchasing one of those!
What a creative idea, thanks for sharing.
