No two gardens are the same. No two days are the same in one garden. ~Hugh Johnson I am amazed at how quickly our garden changes. We are in it every day and every day is different from the one before. And it will be different, yet again, tomorrow. I wish more people would garden, […]
We were gone for five days and when we got back, it seemed the garden had suddenly become lush and full. Perhaps that’s just my perspective, but I think, too, the rain we had gave everything a big push. The fenced garden is already looking overgrown. And I had hoped to plant some herbs in […]
I took these shots to share on Tuesday, but life got hectic for a few days, so am sharing them now. The columbine has come on thick and fast this week. It’s a nice long bloomer and adds color to the beds this time of year. My favorite columbine is the blue one… I thought […]
I’ve been sick this week and spent more than two days in a recliner. Didn’t get back outside to take pictures of the garden until today. But this morning was beautiful, so I enjoyed being able to get outside. I also spent some time on the east porch. Am reading Thomas Merton’s The Seven Storey […]
The redbud blossoms opened Monday. The yard is full of billowing pink clouds of blossoms! The redbud by the kitchen is the only one that was in the yard when we moved in. This year we have more than 20 blooming. The daffodils are beginning to wane, but still look lovely. The Poet’s are a […]
The high winds we’ve had the past few days have knocked a lot of petals off the star magnolia, leaving a white blanket on the ground. I took this picture of the apricot trees a few days ago. The winds have shattered the blossoms, but I can still smell their fragrance from the house. Magnolia […]

The weather was beautiful yesterday and I was able to get out for some picture taking opportunities. Tete-a-Tete daffodils are sprinkled all over the yard. These are near the back door. In the east yard, the Star Magnolia is beginning to bloom. Looks like a snowstorm doesn’t it? Close-up, the blossoms are ivory colored. When […]

The first church bouquet of the season…made with daffodils and bush honeysuckle stems from our yard. The stems work great in the bouquet, providing structure to hold the daffodils in place. I’m so glad spring is here! ~~Rhonda

Once the flowers begin to bloom, there’s no going back. DH picked a few for the kitchen table. And he trimmed a branch from the Southern Oak in the back yard. And he and DD burned the tall grasses. This is a job they usually do in February, but the available February days were either […]
Yesterday afternoon, when the sun came out, I sat on the back steps and enjoyed the sunshine. From there…lots of daffodil shoots to enjoy. The mini daffs ‘Tete-a-Tete’ opened yesterday. The oak tree is getting a faint fuzzy haze as the buds swell. A light breeze ruffled the water in the birdbath. And the cats […]
