Here are some pictures from the garden this past week. I haven’t been out the past few days as it has been chilly and wet. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get out tomorrow or Tuesday. We shall see. If it turns sunny and warm, this would be a nice spot to enjoy the garden. That’s [...]

The wren is singing loudly outside the kitchen window and the trees look like they are “clapping their hands” in the breeze (Isaiah 55:12). A beautiful Sabbath morning. The garden gives a glimpse of God’s creation as it moves through the spring bloomers. Color and beauty. Amazing plants and flowers. Inspiration at every turn. Peonies [...]
The cooler temperatures haven’t bothered the garden. Things are growing beautifully. Hosta ‘Samurai’ ‘Liberty’ Peonies are beginning to bloom. ‘Festiva Maxima’ ‘Flame’ The iris show is beginning. ‘Raspberry Blush’ is one of our earliest. DH did a lot of mulching this week. And we enjoyed our first lettuce and spinach from the garden. Yum! I [...]
The lilacs are perfuming the yard. Our yard has shrubs from my mom’s yard, my grandmother’s yard, and my mother-in-law’s yard. All went into the bouquet. ~~Rhonda

My favorite time of year is when spring finally arrives. This year it’s a few weeks early. No complaints from me! Yellows, pinks and blues…refreshing after the browns and grays of winter. Magnolia ‘Jane’ Hyacinth This small spirea has tiny sweet blossoms on it. I don’t remember the variety. Daffodils…such happy flowers. The blossoms of [...]
The mini daffodils ‘Tete-a-Tete’ are making bright patches around the yard. I love the color of the Lenten Rose. So welcome this time of year. A few years ago, I found a single snowdrop blooming under the apple tree. This year, there are five blossoms. The leaves of ‘Star of Bethlehem’ sprout a bright green [...]

This afternoon, DH and I got out into the yard a bit. The crocus are blooming in the back yard. So pretty! Each spring, DH burns the tall grasses in the yard. Get rid of the old growth…make way for the new growth. DH planted a little lettuce, too. Can’t wait until it starts to [...]

No matter how long the winter, spring is sure to follow. ~ a proverb I know the winter hasn’t seemed that long or harsh this year, but I am so ready for spring. The daffodils are already three inches tall, which is about two inches taller than this time the past few years. And soon, [...]

I was able to get out in the yard for a while this afternoon. Really enjoyed the autumn sunshine and the beautiful foliage colors. The leaves are turning quickly this week. The bright yellow gold of the hickory tree was beautiful against the blue sky. DH raked enough leaves to pad the wagon and we [...]
