I am trying to remember that today is Tuesday. Does it feel like a Monday to anyone else? It’s going to throw me off schedule all week!
We had a great Fourth. DH took Snow White, Rose Red, Middle Daughter and her friend Vivian to the parade. It was the 150th anniversary of this particular celebration and the town had a lot going on. Vivian is from Shanghai, China, here for school. She has been in the States for ten months and has never celebrated the Fourth of July, never saw a parade, never had a corn dog or a funnel cake!
Waiting for the parade to start is hard!
The anticipation is so exciting! They filled their candy bags about half way with thrown candy, necklaces, cup sleeves, tokens, etc. I don’t know if parades elsewhere in the country throw candy or not, but it is big here!
After the parade, DH took all the girls to the carnival. They ate the carnival treats, rode the carnival rides, and generally had a great time.
Meanwhile, Older Son and our DDIL, came to the house about 11:30 and helped me put together the dinner prep. I always enjoy working with them in the kitchen. They are a good team and they work well together. About 1:00, Older Son started the charcoal in the grill and by the time it was ready, DH and company were back from the carnival and he started in with the grilling.
After dessert, Rose Red played “Go Fish!” with mama.
It was, all in all, a fun day. Now down to business! This week’s menu is as follows:

Not only was this Independence Day, but the 5th is Older Son’s birthday and the 7th is Middle Daughter’s birthday. We had a guest for the Fourth and her birthday is the 6th! It’s birthday week at our house!
