Once the flowers begin to bloom, there’s no going back.
DH picked a few for the kitchen table.
And he trimmed a branch from the Southern Oak in the back yard.
And he and DD burned the tall grasses. This is a job they usually do in February, but the available February days were either too wet or too windy.
After burning the grasses, DD spent some time enjoying spring in the yard.
Even in the woods, the daylilies are coming up thick and green.
A solitary crocus blooms in the woods. It must have been planted by a squirrel.
Two years ago, we divided and transplanted the Lenten Rose and it doesn’t seem to have minded.
Springtime potential…

Look at all those daffodils! It makes my clumps of three kinda sad looking. You have such a nice big yard, how nice. I’m glad to see daylilies growing in your woods, it makes me want to try them in a few more places around here.

your flowers look so pretty and cheerful…I am so excited to see some blooms outside here soon!!! another couple of weeks and they will be popping up all over!
this may sound like a silly question. but the only bulbs i’ve ever planted were the Easter lilies i planted for Brea at the cemetery. we bought them in her memory for Easter, and took them directly to the cemetery after Easter service and planted them. I know that was not the “right” time, BUT they are growing tall, and they all bloomed again.
so my question……when IS the best time to plant them? and also, if i have bulbs i bought 2 years ago (kept in a dark closet) will they bloom if planted?
