The glass votive with a few stray blossoms is courtesy of Rose Red. She likes to use it for the flowers she picks in the garden. She doesn’t have the hang of picking stems with her flowers yet.

You can’t sit too close to them, though. The scent is very heavy and sweet. They do last a while in a bouquet. I put them in the vase on Sunday and now, on Friday, many of them are still beautiful.

Each Sunday morning, DH picks blooms from the garden and I make a bouquet to take to church. It is my thanks to God for the beauty He has created. This is today’s arrangement.

It has purple coneflowers, phlox, daisies and ‘In Depth’ double yellow daylilies.

After the church service, we like to pass along the bouquet to someone who will enjoy it, but when it has daylilies in it, that’s less an option. The daylilies are one day bloomers, hence the name. Tomorrow, the bouquet won’t have its shot of lovely yellow. I’ll probably pull the other flowers out of the arrangement and put them in a vase for the kitchen table.

I hope your garden is giving you lovely blossoms. Pick a few for your table and enjoy!

~~Rhonda

The garden is dwindling, but fall is putting out some beautiful color and even some blossoms here and there. Here are two bouquets recently made for church that show the variety still available this time of year.

This basket bouquet is made with hydrangeas and sweet autumn clematis.

And this burst of fall color is made with Southern oak leaves, sumac, goldenrod, wild asters, and sedum.

I’m hoping the garden will provide bouquets through the end of October. Then we’ll put away the baskets and the crocks and the floral foam until spring. ~~Rhonda

The bouquet for church this week was full of ‘Miss Kim’ lilac and several kinds of peonies. It smelled SO good! I also tucked in a few sprigs of honesty. The green seedpods looked nice with the pinks and lilacs of the bouquet.

‘Miss Kim’ is a late blooming lilac (our latest) and it has petite blossom clusters. So pretty.

Our peonies are in full bloom and, along with the irises, are a beautiful sight. If you’re in the area, drive by. Better yet, stop in.

It amazes me how well they hold up under high wind and torrential rain such as we had Friday morning.

I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day. I certainly did!
