Pop it a day or two ahead of time. Works like a charm! As far as squishy berries go, we just throw the soft ones out and use the hard ones. They *will* dry and shrivel a little if left on the tree for three or four (or more) weeks, but it doesn't distract from the beauty of the string. ~~Rhonda :) The popcorn will string a lot better if it is stale.
